What does the qualification cover?
TQUK Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools (RQF)is suitable for those who are in the role of a teaching assistant who directly support teaching and learning of pupils that may require specialist knowledge and skills.
The qualification will provide learners with the knowledge and skills to support pupils in primary, secondary, or SEN schools with their learning. They will learn more about how your role can ensure the safety and protection of children and young people in the learning environment; how to provide maths, English, and ICT support for learners; and how to provide support for the speech, language, and communication development of children and young people in a learning environment.
Learners will gain exceptional personal development skills to benefit their teaching assistant career as well as vital experience carrying out reflective practice which is essential to the role.

Learners holding this qualification will also be able to work within nurseries.

Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for Learners who wants to seek employment in a learning support role (Teaching Assistant, Classroom Assistant or Learning Support Assistant).

What are our entry requirements?
Candidates should possess a Cambridge School Certificate or Passes obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education “Ordinary Level"

Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
A minimum of 350 placement hours is required. During placement, learners will need support from a professional within the real work environment who will be required to complete professional development records.
Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement to be able to show competence in both knowledge and skills. It is not essential for learners to be in employment to undertake this qualification but they will need to make arrangement to complete their training portfolio.

How is this qualification structured?
The qualification has been structured around three themes:
• Theme 1: Health and well-being
• Theme 2: Legislation, frameworks and professional practice
• Theme 3: Play, development and learning for school readiness

How is it assessed?
All units are internally assessed by your Tutor or Assessor using a portfolio of evidence. At the end of our academic year TQUK will carry out an External Quality Assurance of the qualifications.

To gain this qualification the learner will need to:
• Pass all units
• Complete all marked assignments and coursework
• Show competence in a real work environment

How long does it take to complete?
This qualification will take 7 months to complete.
