International Students

Mauritius, an Indian Ocean archipelago, is seen as a model of stability and economic prosperity in the region. It is the regional hub of many companies,  built up a strong outsourcing and financial services sector without missing its goodwill for the tourism industry. It now boasts one of Africa's highest per capita incomes. It comprises of a population is  around 1.2 million with a reputation of racial harmony among its mixed population comprising of Hindus, Muslims, Christians among others. These features make the island a unique place to study in the African region.

 

Enrolling as International Students

Students must submit their application for the course they wish to study at the Manchester Institute of Training Qualifications (MITQ).  Scan copy of the original and  Certified True Copies of the following documents should be submitted to admin@mitq.uk:

  1. Passport and Birth Certificate.

  2. Covering letter of interest.

  3. Qualifications.

 

After the Quality Assurance Department has cleared the student application, a Conditional Offer Letter will be issued for a validity of 30 days.  Students will need to confirm this offer and make a deposit payment of the amount mentioned in the Conditional Offer Letter during this due period.

 

Following full payment of the deposit payment, a receipt and Unconditional Offer Letter will be issued and the MITQ office will proceed the visa application of the student.

Visa Requirements

The Application for student visa should be made to the Passport and Immigration Office (PIO).  The following documents are required to apply for a provisional entry permit to Mauritius and should be submitted by registered post to:

  1. Certified true copies of Birth Certificate, Passport and qualifications

  2. Duly filled/signed application form (www.govmu.org) using a black pen by the applicant.

  3. 4 passport size photos of the applicant (only colour)

  4. Documentary evidence of availability of funds or financial capacity to meet cost of study and stay in Mauritius. Bank statements dated not more than 3 months, verified (stamped and signed) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  5. A medical certificate certifying that the applicant is not suffering from any contagious or infectious disease by the applicant.

 

Additional documents for students under 18 years of age:

  1. Consent letter duly signed by parent/guardian.

  2. Scanned copy of parent’s/guardian’s passport/Identity card.

  3. Scanned copy of the student’s birth certificate.

 

The application is processed in approximately 4 weeks. Following successful application at the PIO, a provisional student entry permit is issued to the applicant (valid for three months enabling the applicant to travel to Mauritius).    

 

Medical Certificate

Students must submit a medical report confirming that the applicant is not suffering from any contagious or infectious disease.  A test for HIV, Hepatis B and a chest X-ray should be done at any private medical laboratory/clinic/hospital in Mauritius and tests results are required to be submitted to the Passport and Immigration Office not later than one month after arrival.  We strongly recommend that the above mentioned medical checks are conducted in your country prior your arrival to Mauritius so as to avoid denied stay in Mauritius.  However, the Mauritian authorities will still require you to re-take these tests in Mauritius.

 

Once the PIO receives the medical report, the Visa will be issued for a duration of minimum one year, renewable on a yearly basis (provided the student is registered with the training institute).

 

Accommodation

MITQ will cater for a conditional accommodation arrangement of one month only for the students (subject to terms and conditions).

 

Students at their own discretion can move to other accommodations.  MITQ will only provide support and assistance for the rental procedures of other accommodations.  The new rental agreement must be attached in their permanent application to the PIO. Students should inform MITQ of any change of address.

Training and placement

MITQ will cater for the training and placement of our students.

 

Travel and medical Insurance

We highly recommend our students to take a Travel and Medical Insurance for the duration of the course in Mauritius.

 

Arrival in Mauritius

Flight details should be communicated to MITQ so that airport transfer can be made. Students will have to pay for the airport transfer.
