TQUK Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF)

(MQA NQF level 5 equivalence)

TQUK Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF) sets out the minimum requirements for a qualification that develops and confirms the competence of those who work in health and adult care services in England. The qualification develop further, specialist skills and knowledge in their area of responsibility which enables learner to lead in areas such as assessment or enablement, for instance. Learners will have responsibility for assessing performance and quality of care delivery. Their team members will look to them for inspiration, and they will provide coaching and mentoring to their colleagues.

 

The titling of each unit within the qualification mirrors the Skills for Care performance requirements listed in the agreed specification whilst the skills and knowledge requirements listed are all included within the unit content.

 

The qualification is suitable for learners with supervisory experience who are already working within the care sector, such as a lead adult care worker, lead personal assistant, etc. It could also be suitable for those seeking employment who having the ability and the opportunity to demonstrate recognisable competences.

 

This qualification recognises the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to demonstrate effective communication, person development, values and behaviours, health and wellbeing, responsibilities of self and others and safeguarding.

 

It is anticipated that learners will progress to Level 5 qualifications for management or senior practitioner roles in Health and Social Care, or to specialist qualifications reflecting the context in which they work.

 

This qualification does not require you to have any prior qualifications or levels of previous learning.

Who is it suitable for?  

Students who wish to work or are working within the Health and Social Care sector within the public and private care facilities.

What are the entry requirements?

Candidates should possess a Cambridge School Certificate or Passes obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education “Ordinary Level” either

(i) in five subjects including English Language with at least Grade C (credit) in any two subjects, or

(ii) in six subjects including English Language with at least Grade C (credit) in any one subject.

 

Do you need to be working to take this qualification?

Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement to be able to show competence in both knowledge and skills. It is not essential for learners to be in employment to undertake this qualification. MITQ has made arrangement with healthcare support companies who will be taking our students on board for their training portfolio.

How many credits are required to complete it?

Learners must achieve a minimum of 70 credits from the mandatory units and optional units. A minimum of 36 credits must be at level 4 or above.

​

How is it assessed?

All units are internally assessed by your Tutor or Assessor using a portfolio of evidence. At the end of our academic year TQUK will carry out an External Quality Assurance of the qualifications.

​

How long will it take to complete this qualification?

Learners can usually complete the qualification within 12 months on a full-time basis. Students will be attending classes on 2 full days per week and posted in Healthcare workplaces for practical 3 days per week.

Overseas Opportunities

Healthcare worker falls in the Shortage Occupation List of many countries such as Canada and Australia. Candidates can apply for jobs abroad once they have completed this diploma.
